Word Processor Definition

Openoffice image. For the convenience of the user, all word processors resemble the famous Microsoft. This is especially true on windows platform..

A word processor is a computer program that does just that: process text. A process is a set of phases through which a product passes so that it can be consumed. The same thing happens to letters, they cannot be written because, once written, they must be “processed” or changed until, according to the point of view of the person writing, they are valid to present.

To process the words we use a word processor. There are many on the market and we are going to stick to the most famous: Microsoft’s processor, Word. When we refer to word processing, we mean giving them shape, size, line width, type, etc. all the ways that one can imagine to shape the words that we write in a text, that is what a word processor does. We have talked about the most used but there are also others with more or less word editing options. A word processor must also have the language installed in which you want to use it, since one of the most useful options is the spell checker.

Due to the many word processors on the market, it will be difficult for us to make our text compatible with another word processor. Even the different versions of Word are not compatible with each other, this is because the most modern versions of Word bring functions that the old ones do not recognize.
It is convenient to install in our processor an add-on that allows us to save our work in pdf (portable document format), in this way our document not only cannot be modified by the person who receives it, but also can read it without any problem. A word processor allows, in addition to editing letters, to adjust the document on which we are working, such as making it larger or smaller, as it suits us. Modern word processors even allow you to translate texts into another language, as long as the language to which to translate is installed.

One of the most useful functions today is the possibility of recovering text files that have been deleted from our hard drive for some reason. Since Windows 7 there is a function called shadow copy that allows one to recover the previous version of any document lost or deleted by mistake.
