As City hall is called the body in charge of the functions of government and administration of a municipality. It is the usual designation of the local administrative entity in countries such as Spain either Mexico. In this sense, it must be written with an initial capital letter.

As such, the City Council is made up of a mayor or municipal president, who is in charge of executive functions, and a group of councilors, who make up the municipal plenary session, and who manage the legislative affairs of the municipality.

As such, depending on the country or region, it receives different names: municipal palace, municipality, commune, mayor’s office or town hall.

The word town hall derives from the disused verb ayuntar, which means ‘to bring together’, ‘to unite’. Hence, town hall also designates the action or effect of town council or town council.
