An eyelash is understood, normally in the plural “eyelashes”, that section of the body that is located at the end of the eyelid and that serves mainly to protect the eyes in certain situations. Each hair that makes up the group of eyelashes is called an eyelash, but it is more common to use the noun in the plural than in the singular to refer to this part of the body. The eyelashes are characteristic of the human being, not of mammals because not all of them have them.

Human beings have a small layer of skin over their eyes known as an eyelid. This is the first protection for the eye since it can completely cover the eye and thus make the eye closed. On the other hand, when the eyelid ends, what is known as eyelashes begins and is nothing more than a small set of short hairs whose most important function is to cover the eye in a secondary way. The eyelashes help prevent external bodies from entering the eye, very small bodies that can be swept by them as if it were a brush.

The eyelashes are located both in the upper part and in the lower part of the eye, although the upper ones are more abundant and longer. As with all body hair, eyelashes grow back if you pluck them out, or if you pull them out, they sometimes fall out naturally as well. Sometimes, when they are very long and protruding, the eyelashes can get into the eye and cause different types of injuries, so it is good to go to the doctor or ophthalmologist to control this type of situation.

In the case of women, eyelashes are an extremely important element when it comes to seduction and since time immemorial women paint and color their eyelashes to give a more sensual and attractive style.
