Omnivore Definition

The concept of omnivore we use it in our language to refer to those animals that feed on both plants and animals. That is to say, the animals that are classified as omnivores present a broader and more indistinct diet, not distinguishing what they eat as other types do. What we mentioned we say in close relation to what happens with the carnivorous animals that only eat meat or herbivores that only eat plants.

There are even many specialists who attribute their long presence on the planet to this particular characteristic of their diet, which makes them an intelligent exploiter of carrion, cereals, fruits and little animals.

Meanwhile, the human species, although there are some positions that oppose it, is also considered within the omnivorous classification, since human beings preferentially feed on plants, through the fruits and vegetables that we consume and of course also meat from dead animals, such is the case of beef, pork, among others.

Since the earliest times of man on the planet, food has always been a mix of vegetables that were collected and meat from animals that were hunted opportunely for food.

It is also important that we emphasize that from a nutritional point of view, the intake of both meat and vegetables, always obviously in a balanced point and in the most suitable conditions, is usually considered the ideal.

Obviously there are conflicting positions such as vegetarians and the most extremist vegan that promote a diet based solely on vegetables and condemn the intake of meat, also considering that animals are killed to satisfy the diet, and that this action is practiced with virulence affecting clear the quality of the meat that is ingested in this way.

On the other hand, there are studies that support the theory that the consumption of animal meat can develop some health problems in people, such as cardiovascular problems, to name one of the most common.

Likewise, vegetarians maintain that the intrinsic characteristics of humans make them herbivores by nature.
