Musical note
The musical note can be understood as the most basic and primordial element of sound and music. The musical note is the element from which the different melodies and harmonies in music are assembled, since each of them represents a particular and indivisible sound that, put together with others, creates a more complex and lasting sound. Musical notes are abstract elements but they are symbolically represented on the staves so that they can be read and interpreted by the musicians.
Many consider that musical notes are equivalent to atoms, the basic and indivisible units of matter. The same happens with musical notes since they are the ones that allow to compose more complex and lasting sound systems. The notes do not exist by themselves like the atoms, but are an interpretation that the human being makes of the different sounds existing in the world that surrounds us. The musical notes are seven: Do – Re – Mi – Fa – Sol – La – Si. This is known as a musical scale and it is the one that is represented, precisely as a scale, on the pentagram. The combination of these musical notes plus the sum of other accompanying elements or the variation between each one of them is what makes it possible to compose different types of music.
Due to the variety of tones and sounds that exist for each note, music is as varied and complex as it is known. If we add speed, rhythm and other elements to that, we get various musical rhythms that are completely different from each other and that are played in very different ways. One of the most important characteristics of the notes is that they must always be combined in a harmonic way so that the sound obtained is pleasant to the human ear, that it does not sound out of tune or sound aggressive, circumstances that can occur when the notes are not combined correctly. .
