Susceptible indicates the probability that something will happenis linked to that capable of being modified or receiving impression by something or someone, and can also classify a person who experiences changes in feelings easilywho is emotionally fragile and is said to be sensitive, too delicate, easy to be offended under any pretext, picky.

Susceptible is a term that comes from Latin susceptibĭlis. It is an adjective of two genders that indicates the susceptibility of someone or something.

A susceptible person is a person, “hold it” either “prone to”. This word is often linked to the ease with which a person contracts a disease. Example: His health has always been fragile, he is very susceptible to diseases.

In the context of epidemiology, a virus tries to find a host, where it can replicate itself and overcome the defenses of the organism in question. This host can be susceptible or resistant, and a susceptible host does not have any resistance to this pathogen and can contract the disease.

In a figurative sense, a touchy person is a finicky person who is offended by nothing.

Magnetic susceptibility

Magnetic susceptibility is the quantity that measures the magnetization capacity of bodies in response to a magnetic field. Formally, it is defined as the relationship between the magnetic polarization induced on a body and the intensity of the external magnetic field that causes it.

Magnetic susceptibility is dimensionless. If it is positive, the material is paramagnetic, and the magnetic field is strengthened by the presence of the material. If it is negative, the material is diamagnetic, and the magnetic field weakens in the presence of the material. If it is greater than 1 it is a ferromagnetic material.

Electrical susceptibility is the quantity that measures the electrical polarization capacity of matter. Formally, it is defined as the relationship between the induced dielectric polarization that occurs in a substance and the intensity of the external electric field necessary for it. In a vacuum the electrical susceptibility is zero.

Electromagnetic susceptibility

Electromagnetic susceptibility is the inability of a system to function without degradation in the presence of an electromagnetic disturbance. A high electromagnetic susceptibility indicates a high sensitivity to electromagnetic fields.
