Meaning of Gender

What is Gender:

Gender is a word that refers to the type, class, lineage or lineage to which a set of things or beings that have the same nature belong, that is, they share elements such as genesis, form and/or characteristics.

The word comes from Latin genus and -eris, with the same meaning. Its use is quite wide. What has been said implies that we can talk about gender in relation to different subjects, such as biology, arts, literature, social sciences, etc. Let’s see what each of these and other uses refer to.

Gender in biology

The word gender is used in biology within the context of taxonomyresponsible for classifying life forms and their evolution, based on morphological and functional characteristics that reflect the existence of common and close ancestors.

Within this discipline, genus refers to one of the taxonomic classifications of living beings, located between the family and the species. For example, homo sapiens is the name of the human species that belongs to the genus homowhat does it mean human.

Pictorial genres

Among the most notable we can mention: the portrait genre; landscape; historical, mythological or religious paintings; still lifes and “genre” painting (representation of everyday scenes), among others.

Gender in video games
