Inequity (What it is and its Meaning)

Inequity means inequality either inequity. It is a term used especially in Latin America and is associated with a situation of inequality that generates injustice.

Social inequality

Social inequality represents a difference between the groups or classes that make up a society. Inequality of opportunities to access goods and services such as housing, education or health is pointed out as one of the causes but also as one of the consequences of this situation.

Discrimination is when a person is treated differently depending on the group to which they belong.

In some cultures, there are systems of castes in which individuals are clearly differentiated based on the group to which they belong.

In the so-called Western civilization we talk about groups or social classes which indicates the existence of some type of social inequality.

Differences at the social level are in many cases determined by economic and cultural aspects but also by issues, in others, racial, religious or origin.

Gender inequality

Gender inequality covers several aspects related to the treatment given to a person within a society depending on their gender.

These types of differentiations are usually defined by the role that a person is given in a certain culture based on their gender.

In this sense we can speak of patriarchy or matriarchy when the role of dominance and government in a society falls on the figure of the man or the woman, respectively.

One of the places where gender inequality is most talked about is the professional field. We often talk about gender inequality, for example, to refer to the differences in access to certain positions and the salary differences that exist within the same job.

Many of these issues are related to stereotypes and preconceived ideas about a person’s abilities and attitudes depending on their gender.
