If you are a university student and you are working on your thesis, we will tell you how to make the margins APA rules. In this post we will talk about the criteria to take into account, as well as the difference with the previous edition.
APA Standard Margins 7th Edition
The size of the APA standard margins, defined in the latest edition, should be 1 inch on all sides. This is, equivalent to 1 inch. So, you should apply 1 inch to the top, bottom, right, and left margin.
This format should be applied in relation to the page size setting. In Word it must be “letter size”, with the following measurements: 21.59 cm x 27.94 cm (equivalent to 8 ½ x 11 inches).

The difference with the 6th edition is that before, at least 1 inch was used on all sides; that is, it could be greater than that measure.
We also recommend that you follow the format of font type and size to make it compatible with your margins apa norms:
Without serifs: 11-point Calibri, 11-point Arial, and 10-point Lucida Sans Unicode.
With serifs: Times New Roman 12 point, Georgia 11 point, and Computer Modern regular 10 point (the default font in LaTeX).
All of these types of fonts are readable and available. In addition, they include special characters, such as mathematical symbols and Greek letters. In all cases, you must use the same font type and size throughout the entire document or file. Even in the titles and subtitles.

Figures: Within figure images, it is recommended to use a sans serif font with a size between 8 and 14 points.
Source code (programming languages): for code, use a monospaced font such as Lucida Console 10 point or Courier New 10 point.
Footnotes: when inserting notes, you can use a smaller font than the text font and different line spacing.
