Characteristics of effective communication

Effective communication is characterized by transmitting a message in a way that meets the objectives expected by the sender to the receiver. It is also characterized by solving the problem of the interpretation that the interlocutors give to the message.

For communication to be effective, the interlocutors must seek understanding of each other through the development of a clear, precise and brief message. This means that this message must be:

Easy to understand, Express objectively what is meant, Express only what is intended.

Effective communication and assertive communication

Effective communication involves assertive communication. Assertive communication, in this sense, refers to the use of emotional intelligence so that the elements of non-verbal communication, such as tone of voice, can complement the message and not hinder it.
