Definition of Summit

The word top is one that refers to the highest or highest point of a surface. This term can be used in different areas and aspects, although it is mainly related to geography when it is used to designate the highest parts of mountains or some other elevation. However, it can also be used to point to the top of other elements such as a ladder or even metaphorically to refer to situations in which the person reaches their maximum goal.

If we limit it to the field of geography, the top is that part of a surface that has the highest elevation or altitude and that differs from the rest of the surface that surrounds it. This is especially visible in the case of mountains and although the term is not used as commonly with surfaces of lower elevation such as hills or hills, the idea of the top applied to them would not be incorrect. There are other geographical terms that are used to differentiate different types of summits, for example in the case of mountain ranges that normally include several peaks, those that are located below the main summit may be known as sub-summits. In the case of geographical phenomena, it is very seldom possible to speak of perfect peaks since the irregularity of the surface is always present.

The idea of a peak can also be used in metaphorical terms when referring to meeting the objectives that one may have and thus establishing the idea of climbing towards the top, towards success. This use is very common in work environments in which a clear hierarchy is always established between the different job positions and the notion of climbing to a more or less distant peak is also present.
