The term seriousness has two meanings. On the one hand, it projects a responsible attitude towards something, and, on the other, a social behavior of the person linked to the expressiveness of feelings.
Seriousness as an attitude of personal responsibility is manifested in relation to daily obligations. If someone complies with his commitments, is punctual, does not make excuses and is honest, it is said that he is a serious person. Their seriousness is socially considered a virtue and, therefore, this type of individual is valued when carrying out obligations at work or in any other field.
We say that someone is serious when they do not show satisfaction as expected. Usually, the seriousness is appreciated in the facial gesture, in the tone of voice and in the style of an individual. The serious countenance may be due to a lack of vital optimism, shyness or it may be a trait that is caused by a passing situation. This personality trait is typical of reserved people, not very extroverted or inclined to pessimism in some of its forms (sadness, melancholy, nostalgia, bitterness, etc.).
As it is an assessment based on external appearance or on some indications, it does not always correspond to the true character. In fact, behind the serious gesture there may be someone funny and with a sense of humor, so their seriousness is external and apparent.

To say that someone or something is not serious means that it is valued negatively, that it does not inspire confidence and that it generates little credibility.
There are many ways to be unserious. Probably the main one is the contradiction between what is said and what is done. People who are false, hypocritical, or who change their minds easily are classified as not serious. In a very similar way, if a project does not have sufficient foundation, it can also be considered in this way.
Consideration of little seriousness has a danger: that it is based on a personal prejudice. This is what happens to the appearance of some people who have tattoos, a different haircut and an unconventional style. Their appearance is sometimes confused and they are described as unserious simply because of some external characteristics, which are not related to their level of responsibility or degree of commitment. To the same extent, formality in dress and physical appearance are indications of someone serious and confident. In conclusion, it can be seen that seriousness estimation is complex and can easily lead to deception.
