Challenge Definition

The word challenge allows to account for that action in which an individual or group fights, contradicts or refutes with some argument or any other valid resource, something that is considered to be wrong, or in its absence illegal, and that of course, due to these erroneous or illegal conditions harms it.

Rebuttal of an erroneous argument or illegal issue from evidence

It is a concept that is applied in various contexts and that always refers to the rejection of a statement, the annulment of the arguments that, for example, someone presents, through the use of counter-arguments that make it certain or true.

For example, theories and laws will persist until they are successfully challenged.

Whenever you want to challenge or refute something, in any context, it will be necessary to present valid evidence or arguments in this sense and that leave no doubt that it is correct to annul a decision or demolish an idea that an opponent holds, among others.

Law: action that is filed in a judicial process

For example, at the behest of the Right, it is recurrent to come across this concept, since it is an action that can be imposed in a judicial process. “The defense challenged the decision of the chamber that exempts his client from prison.”

This means that the lawyers, or defendant’s defense attorney, filed an appeal through which the decision reached by the court that heard regarding the release of their defendant and which of course was not granted is refuted.

Politics: invalid vote, rejection of an electoral result, political debate in which an opponent’s proposal is refuted

Also in the policy fieldthe term to challenge turns out to be very frequent, since it is popularly known as challenge, contestation of vote or invalid voteto that wrong vote made by a voter in an election and that therefore will imply nullity once the votes are counted.

It should be noted that the contested vote can become such accidentally or intentionally, while, among the situations that can determine the nullity of the vote, the following stand out: including an unofficial or inappropriate ballot in the envelope; placing several candidate ballots for the same office, preventing it from being determined which candidate was voted for; place only the fragment of a ballot; introduction of foreign objects; write or cross out the ballot, among others.

Unlike what happens in most legislations with a blank vote, which can imply favor of one of the political options presented, the challenged vote, directly, nullify the vote in questiondoes not count, does not add.

Historically, the contested vote is associated with a form of protest that political groups or citizens have used regarding the presentation of some candidates, or to directly express their disagreement with all the proposals presented for a given election.

Continuing in the context of politics, the concept is also widely used at the request of elections to designate the action that a political party can develop against another because it considers that it has committed fraud in the elections in which they competed.

This situation is very common and also sometimes very complex to verify.

The parties that do not win in the elections and that have been close to doing so, because they were left with only a few points, usually challenge the victory of their competitor, and this implies filing a complaint before the competent court to review the electoral act in all its edges.

On the other hand, at the request of the pre-electoral political debates, it is also a constant practice to challenge the arguments of the adversary, to disrupt his position and for his own to triumph, a fact that has the purpose of obtaining the vote of the electorate.

Every time someone intends to challenge the argument of another, in any context, they must rescue those sayings of the opponent that are false or with which they do not agree and explain why they are not true or not convenient, and finally promote their own arguments. that contradict those exposed by the person who is challenged in order to strengthen the belief in what we say.
